History of psychology(wilhelm wundt)

 During the 17th-century, the French philosopher Rene Descartes introduced the idea of dulisam which propounded that the mind and body were two systems that link to form the human experience.History of psychology offers the opportunity to make sense of how it has grown and developed.
Relationship between the mental (experiences of the senses) and the material (external reality) was investigated by a number of German researchers. Their work was called psychophysics, and it introduced the methods for measuring the relationship between physical stimuli and human feelings that would provide the basis for the new science of psychology.

Wilhelm Wundt was a German physiologist, philosopher, and professor, known today as one of the founders of modern psychology of 19th century.Wundt helped to establish the field of experimental psychology and promoting the idea of psychology. His goal was to identify the elements of consciousness.
His book published in 1873, "Principles of Physiological Psychology," in which given many of the major connections between the science of physiology and the study of human thought and behavior. He gave the idea of structuralism.

  • Structuralism is a theory of consciousness that look for analyze the elements of mental experiences, such as sensations, mental images, and feelings, and how these elements combine to form more complex experiences.
  • Structuralism was a school of thought that sought to identify the components (structure) of the mind -- the mind was considered the key element to psychology in that point.
